Aromatherapy

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the art and science of using essential oils for improving and maintaining health and beauty. The use of essential oils dates back over 5000 years ago and was used by several ancient civilizations (Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Chinese and Indian).

What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are non-oily aromatic liquids occurring naturally in various parts of plants, herbs, flowers, fruits, woods and spices. They contain the life force of the plant and have the ability to strengthen our immune system and to stimulate our body’s natural healing abilities. The proper use of essential oils is gentle but can be profoundly effective in balancing body, mind and spirit.

What is an Aromatherapist?

An aromatherapist utilizes essential oils, herbs, etc. to enable the body’s natural healing process. As an aromatherapist, one is professionally trained in the properties of application and contraindications of essential oils. Essential oils are blended together or used individually to support and promote this healing process. They may be recommended for use in various ways: blended in oils or creams for use on the skin, in baths, face “steams”, diffusers, compresses or nasal inhalers.
